Ilford Pan 400 is a medium contrast black & white negative film with a speed of 400 ISO, excellent sharpness &  a wide tonal range in the resulting negatives producing excellent quality.  The  very versatile 100 ISO & 400 ISO speeds can be uprated to 800 ISO or downrated to 50 ISO with very little loss of quality and still maintaining the very fine grain characteristics and excellent sharpness. They can be processed in a wide variety of black and white developers. Because of these characteristics these films are extremely versatile films that can be used in virtually any situation.
